Indie Week Canada (Oct 12-16, 2011)

INDIE WEEK CANADA is strategically scheduled between Pop Montreal, Halifax Pop Explosion and CMJ (New York).  This allows international and local acts the opportunity to maximize their touring plans and budgets by participating in multiple October festivals.

Indie Week works with 15+ of downtown Toronto's top live-music venues; in the past we have given artists the occasion to play at The Horseshoe Tavern, The Bovine Sex Club, The Hideout, The Rivoli, The Drake Hotel, Tattoo Rock Parlor, Cherry Cola's, The Underground Garage, El Mocambo, The Big Bop (RIP), and more! In 2010 over 160 artists performed to an audience of over 4,000.

Showcases are judged by members of the music industry, and the week culminates at the Indie Week Finals where the ‘Best of the Fest’ perform and the judges determine which act will headline Indie Week Ireland 2012.

Just as one act from Canada goes to Ireland, one act from Ireland comes to Canada to showcase alongside other notable Irish acts at the Irish Showcase.

In addition to the Irish Showcase, we'll also be presenting Maritime, Greek and Australian showcases. We are very receptive to artists from these regions and encourage them to apply!

Indie Week is dedicated to helping artists.  Having industry judges at showcases ensures industry in the room.  In the past, artists, volunteers and staff have gone on to work with producers, managers, booking agents, labels, publicists, lawyers – as a result of meeting at INDIE WEEK.  Artists must impress!
