F.A.Q

How is the Best of the Fest chosen?
A smokin’ panel of judges decide.Click here for a list of past music industry judges.
Even if the judging doesn’t pan out in your favour, you are guaranteed to be performing for industry, and it’s not uncommon for artists to go on to work with judges who are managers, producers, agents, lawyers, etc.

Is my application fee refunded if I’m not selected?
Unfortunately no, the application is non-refundable.

Why is there an application fee?
There are a number of reasons for the application fee: The majority goes to paying for festival promotion and to the top prize (flights). The fee also ensures that interested acts are serious and have a high commitment level.

“We Should Be Believing”

The theme of Indie Week 2011 is taken from These Electric Lives winning showcase as they performed a fan favorite to take the top act award of Indie Week Canada 2010.This video is the song, “We Should Be Believing”.

The band is now off to headline Indie Week Ireland 2011.

(NOTE: The first 2 rows were all photographers! lol.)

Indie Week prides itself on being the “alternative” music festival. As the name suggests, it is about independent artists – As an artist-friendly festival, each act is listened to in the selection process and chosen on their musical merits. This also means that acts aren’t lost in a giant band-stew! And if you’re not a fan of music competitions, here’s some food for thought: Many attendees, performers and press have raved about the balance that Indie Week has achieved between festival and competition. Many acts have made connections and have moved on to work with managers, lawyers, producers, agents – all because of their performance at Indie Week.

It’s about the music, not the competition. It’s about giving the underdog a chance. It’s about networking, learning, sharing ideas and giving your act a chance. It’s about getting a leg up in the near impossible landscape of the music business.

These Electric Lives, winners of Indie Week Canada 2010 sing – “We Should Be Believing”. They did and now they are on their way to headline Indie Week Ireland. Plus a number of other opportunities have opened up since their winning performance at Indie Week 2010.

INDIE WEEK is a twice-annual music festival that takes place in Canada and Ireland. Artists can apply now for a chance to showcase in front of music industry professionals. Indie Week guarantees music industry in the room – industry judges will vote for the top act of the festival. Industry will see your act!

Acts accepted can be signed to an indie label, an indie label distributed by a major but not acts signed direct to a major label. We accept acts from most genres : acoustic, solo, folk, rock, alternative, hard rock, metal, eclectic, electronic, punk, hardcore, pop, soft rock. We are looking for the best!

We hope to see your act onstage at Indie Week 2011 – Keep Believing!
